XtraTuf Rubber Work Boot on Amazon

Being a man who has worked all of his life in the field, from commercial fishing, to shipyards, to heavy highway construction, I feel comfortable giving a little advice on my experiences with work boots for men. I have  worn many different brands, and being a larger guy I always had difficulty finding a boot that was comfortable and would hold out and retain its waterproofing for more that a couple of months.

For me comfort was always the main element that I needed. If my feet hurt during the day, it was all over. I was miserable. That is no way to give the company you work for the best that you have.

When I was working in the commercial fishing industry finding the right boot was easy as their was only one that truly fit the bill as far as comfort and reliability goes. If you have ever spent any time at sea, then you probably know what boot I am talking about. The "Extra Tough". These are perfect for gripping on  slippery surfaces like the back deck of a commercial fishing vessel. As far as comfort goes, these boots are so comfortable that when I wore out the tops of a pair I would cut them down to  a little over ankle length and make slippers out of them. To this day even though I am not commercial fishing anymore I wear extra toughs for all of my wet weather needs. The only thing that isn't great about them, is that if you are making a concrete pour and walking across re-bar it isn't real comfortable as they don't have a steel shank in the sole. They have more of a slipper feel than they do a real tough work boot feel. Still as far as rubber mens work boots go, in my opinion there is none better.

While I was working in the shipyards, I didn't have a lot of money and the money I did have I wasn't real wise with so I never knew the value of getting a good quality pair of work boots because I didn't feel I could justify the price when I could go to a well known store and spend 25 bucks for a pair of boots. The thing that I realize now though after finally investing in quality men's work boots is that in the end you end up paying the same, and with the cheaper pair you get sore feet to go along with it. Take the local known store specials for example, when I was welding in the yard I would get maybe two months out of a pair before my feet were in agony and I had to go back. On the other hand when I finally found the right quality work boot I would get a solid year out of them and they were still comfortable when my feet fell out of them.

So in comes the price factor. I would get 2 month out of the local stores boots and out of a pair of  quality work boots for men I would get a little more than a year. 25 times 6 is 150 dollars plus the agony and the gas to drive back and forth to the store. For the quality boots I will spend between 180 and 200 dollars. For this I get a comfortable boot that is going to remain that way and my feet will stay dry. It really is a no brainer. Buy yourself some quality mens work boots.

The work boot featured in your photo we call “gumboots” in New Zealand, or in the UK they are called “Wellingtons.” They are really good especially in muddy boggy conditions like on a farm. The only thing you need to watch out for is sinking too deep into the mud and it coming over the top of the boot. Fortunately these come up high to the knee so that shouldn’t be a problem. A great product!

The Xtra Tuff rubber work boots are perfect for dairy work. I love mine.

yeah the extra tough ones have lasted me quite a while. i’d recommend them.

It’s funny, I’m back at university taking some classes right now and there’s a huge resurgence of women wearing work boots like this to class. They even have them in pink or flower patterns. Personally, I keep mine for the fields :)
